Here at Hope Community Homes we have been blessed by the provision of three flats this spring, giving Hope Community the opportunity to house more rough sleepers. Recently we moved into our new office and social space, It will give us the opportunity to be a central hub for all the tenants, they can pop in for a cup of tea, coffee or a chat if they need one, while also giving us a place to hold our meetings with them. It will also give us the opening to build more of a community atmosphere across Hope Community Homes, allowing us to host evening events, i.e. Cell group or just coming to watch the football and film over for dinner, giving the guests an opportunity to know each other and become a community support network.
While all these are positives for us at Hope Community Home, we cannot take our eyes off the wider picture going on at the moment, the changes that are taking place with the Benefit System are of concerns for other Homeless projects. Regardless of people’s personal political opinions, we need to recognize that there will be significant group of people from the new EEA Countries, who will be homeless, with no recourse to public funds.
