Bible Study

This week we looked at John 7 with 7 guests.

We saw how the crowd had divided opinions about who Jesus was.
Was he just a good man?
Or was he a deceiver?
Others said “He is the Christ”.
People still debate over who Jesus is today.
Pray that those who attend our bible study will put their faith in him.

Bible Study

Eleven of out guests had a lovely Easter dinner with us this week at bible study and we looked at the Easter story in John 19 & 20.

Without Jesus death on the cross we would never have a right relationship with God our Father.
Jesus death on the cross demonstrates God’s love for us and no-one has ever loved us like Jesus and no-one ever will.

Bible Study

This week we looked at John 6 with 7 guests,  the feeding of the five thousand.

We discussed how God sees our circumstances differently to the way we do.
Jesus saw the need for food to feed the people, as an opportunity to teach the disciples how to exercise faith.
Sometimes out difficult circumstances cause us to trust God more.
Its not what we have, its what God can and will do with what we have that counts.

Bible Study

This week we continued our study of John chapter 5 v 31 – 47 with 7 guests.

We discussed v 40 “yet you refuse to come to me to have life”.
The life Jesus talks about, is not only Eternal Life when we die, but a spirit filled life here on earth which gives us power to overcome sin.
Pray that those who come to the bible study regularly would become alive in Christ and dead to sin and its power over them.

Bible Study

We had 9 thirsty guests at bible study last week.
We looked at John 4 v 1 – 38 where Jesus talks with a Samaritan woman at the well.
Jesus said ” Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life”. The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty….”
Pray for D who is going to prison and came to the bible study.
Pray that his time in prison will result in him seeking God for this water Jesus is speaking of.

This Weeks Bible Study

This week we began the year with 10 guests looking at John 2 v 12 – 25

Much discussion was had around verse 25 ” for Jesus knew what was in a man”. The sinful nature of man can lead us into all kinds of trouble, which can have long-lasting effects on our lives and the lives of others.
Without God’s grace and mercy we are lost in a whirlpool of sin and judgement.
Romans 5 v 6 ” You see at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for us.”
Pray that the eyes of the guests hearts would be opened to see what Jesus has accomplished for them on the cross.

Bible Study

Five guests gathered with us to study John’s gospel chapter 1 v 19 – 34.

John the Baptist came as a witness to testify concerning Jesus and we also must do the same.
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” said John.
Although we cannot see Jesus walk among us , we can point people to him and ask others to follow Jesus with us.

Pray for 2 of our guests who are attending a Discipleship Course at All Souls which concludes in 2 weeks.

Last weeks Bible study

We have begun to study the gospel of John and have covered chapter 1 v 1 – 18 in the past 3 weeks.
Much discussion was had over verse 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, full of grace and truth.
In a world where grace and truth are hard to find, it is important that we, “little Christs”, show the world these qualities by the way we live before them.
Being kind and showing integrity often speaks louder than words.

This Weeks Bible Study

This week we concluded the book of Romans with chapter 16.

Lists of names mean little to us.  But each name represents a person who is important to God.

We had three regulars and a newcomer join us as we reviewed Paul’s teaching on Grace of God which is freely offered to all. One guest expressed his desire to change , but admitted he was unable to as he had tried and failed many times. God knows our struggles and feels our pain.

Paul said “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst”

Pray that this grace will come into the lives of those who feel enslaved by sin and want set free.

This Weeks Bible Study

We are coming near the end of Romans and looked at chapter 15 with 9 guests this week.
We discussed how we often live to please ourselves because we are sinful. But Paul encourages us in verse 3 to follow Jesus’ example and put others first. This is a challenge for homeless people as the spend a lot of their time in a queue for food.
Pray that the God of all hope will fill the men with all joy and peace as they trust in him.
Also pray for 5 of the men as they have agreed to attend a Christianity Explored Course beginning 19th October for 7 weeks at All Souls Church.
